Mounting motors and gears

Motors need to be mounted firmly onto whatever forms the chasssis of your robot. Superglue or preferably a 2 part epoxy resin such as araldite are very effective as long as you are happy to have the motors permanently fixed in place. If using glue be careful to line up the position of the motors accurately, make sure you don't get any glue around where the the shaft goes into the motor and don't stick your fingers to the motors with superglue !! Leave the glue to fully dry before continuing work on the parts in a place where they won't get knocked out of alignment.

It depends on the shape of the motors as to how easy it will be to fix them in place. Many motors have flat sides on them that are ideal to glue down, but if the motors are round in shape then some additinal support is recommended. A piece of angled aluminium such as is available at B&Q or other hardware stores makes a good support that can be eitehr bolted or glued down.
